About This Book
Detective Mitch Haskell has spent two years consumed by a single purpose: finding the men responsible for his wife's murder. The trail points to Roland Malone, a ruthless enforcer operating behind the facade of a legitimate business, and the shadowy kingpin known only as Oz. But Mitch's obsession has cost him nearly everything, and his boss and former friend has issued an ultimatum: mandatory therapy or lose the badge. Dr. Dylan Reede proves harder to dismiss than Mitch expects, and the pull between them complicates both the case and her professional judgment as danger closes in from every direction.
Kyf Brewer brings a lived-in weariness to Mitch that suits the character's bruised interior perfectly, shifting between sardonic deflection and raw grief with convincing ease. The tension in Brown's plotting translates especially well to audio, where Brewer's pacing through the cat-and-mouse sequences keeps the suspense taut across the full twelve-hour runtime. Fans of the series will find this second installment deeply satisfying to hear.
